The project began when I wanted to find why aesthetics existed in design. What was their purpose and how did we make choices about them?
The Cadillac Glasses Project started after learning that I could "sketch" with a camera as well as on paper to understand and make sense of design languages.
My first exploration into Cadillac's essence was through a "furniture translation" project. Furniture is stationary, unlike a car, so I was challenged with extracting "Cadillac-ness" from "car-ness" to find the abstract expression or language of its aesthetic.
By learning how to put this into a table, I started to understand a few main themes of Cadillac's design identity.
